We recommend that you review your insurance programs and the coverage they offer when you travelling. Many insurance plans offer little or no coverage when travelling outside their coverage area, and often offer no coverage when you travel outside your country.

The U.S. State Department advises U.S. clients that Medicare and most U.S. health insurance companies do not provide coverage for them abroad (on page 3 of U.S. Passport). Be sure to determine the exact benefits or lack of benefits your insurance programs provide before travelling. For example, find out how much your deductible is for lost or stolen baggage. Homeowner's and rental policies usually have large deductibles in the event of lost or stolen baggage when travelling.

Why do I need a travel protection plan when I am covered by my credit cards insurance policies?
Credit card insurance policies may only protect you for flight accidents, car rental damage or for accidental death while you are travelling, but this protection is usually only offered to you when you purchase your tickets with that particular credit card.

Buying travel insurance gives you comprehensive coverage that will meet your needs. WorldTravelCenter.com offers a variety of plans to ensure you get just the plan you need.

What is "International Travel Medical Insurance" and why do I need it?
International Travel Medical Insurance products address the medical insurance needs of U.S. citizens and foreign nationals who need temporary medical insurance while traveling for business or pleasure anywhere outside their country of citizenship. Coverage may include medical evacuation, repatriation, and choice of deductible and policy limits.

Why do I need international medical insurance?
While traditional medical plans offer fine domestic coverage, few are designed for international travelers or visitors. Even those that offer limited benefits do not normally cover medically supervised emergency evacuation, emergency reunion, or repatriation. Local care providers are simply not equipped to deal with complications caused by different languages, currency conversion, inexperienced international claim administration, and the time zone differences. What is "Travel Protection" and why do I need it?
Travel Protection is a combination of insurance coverages and travel assistance service which provides comprehensive protection for you and your family before and during your trip. You invest a lot of time and money when you travel. Doesn't it make sense to protect that investment? Remember, no matter how well planned your trip is, the unexpected can and often does occur.

Why would I need a travel protection plan?
There are many reasons to choose a travel protection plan to protect yourself and your family while traveling:
    • While traditional medical plans offer fine domestic coverage, few are designed for international travelers or visitors. Even those that offer limited benefits do not normally cover medically supervised emergency evacuation, emergency reunion, or repatriation. Travel protection plans offer coverage for medical expenses and emergency evacuation and repatriation.
    • If you have prepaid the cost of your trip or even paid a deposit on your trip and find you have to cancel or return home early, a travel protection plan can offer trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage which can help you protect your investment.
    • Travel protection plans offer additional baggage coverage over that provided by the airlines and also provide benefits if your baggage is delayed.
    • Travel protection plans offer worldwide 24-hour emergency assistance.

May I purchase coverage up to the date of departure?
Yes, however the insurer's policy to cover pre-existing conditions vary between providers.

If I change my mind after purchasing travel medical insurance or enrolling in the protection plan, is it refundable?
Yes. Generally, the providers will provide refunds as long as you have not departed, have not filed a claim or sent a written request prior to the policy's effective date.

May a foreign national purchase coverage at WorldTravelCenter.com?
WorldTravelCenter.comSM has a wide selection of plans which provide options for citizens of all countries.

Why should I purchase a travel protection policy before my next trip?
Your health and vacation investment are at risk when you travel. Experienced travellers know that an unplanned occurrence can always arise, before or during a trip. Travel Protection is a combination of insurance coverage and travel assistance service; when combined into a comprehensive package protects you and your family before and during your trip.

Your primary health plan may not pay for you to see a doctor or be admitted to a hospital way from home. Your plan is unlikely to pay for you to be evacuated to a top quality medical facility---which can cost up to $50,000. Added to that, cancellation penalties can be steep; the cost of your cruise or trip may not be refunded to you in the event of personal or family sickness. You invest a lot of time and money when you travel. Doesn't it make sense to protect that investment? Remember, no matter how well planned your trip is, the unexpected can and often does occur.

Can I purchase this plan on line?
    YES. Click here to purchase

I have health insurance, why do I need travel protection?
Travel protection offers more than just medical emergencies! Remember, many tour and cruise companies offer non-refundable packages! That means if you get sick before your trip and have to cancel, you lose the entire investment. In addition, many managed care plans only cover emergency care when you're away from home. Even care that you thought was an "emergency" might not be covered by your insurance. Many plans provide no coverage for international travel.
